The Shining Moon is a boardbook – also known as a shikishi board – that is often used as a decoration item with calligraphy scripts or paintings added to it. Boardbooks come with many different border options, and this one is elegant in its simplicity. With a relatively plain, but still graceful border, your artwork will make a striking impression when you hang it as a personalized decoration in your home or office.

The inner layer of the board, where you will create your artwork, is a Xuan paper that has gone through an additional manufacturing step to become processed. This means that after the steps taken for normal unprocessed Xuan paper, another step is added to make the paper less absorbent. In the case of this product, this is done by smearing a shining powder onto the surface of the paper.

Though the amount of absorbency left after a paper is smeared with powders or other chemicals depends on the amount used, this paper is not absorbent at all. This means that it is perfect for Fineline (Gongbi) painting. It can also be used for calligraphy, particularly if you are working with Kai Shu, Li Shu and Zhuan Shu scripts.
